Doctoral Programme P0312D250004: Sociology (DP_SOCA and DK_SOCA)Academic director of the doctoral program: prof. PhDr. Ing. Ondřej Císař, Ph.D. Academic year: 2023/2024 The doctoral study programme of Sociology at the FSV UK prepares students for basic and applied research and teaching in the academia, in scientific and research institutes, private sector and in other institutions requiring a high level of theoretical and methodological education in sociology and related disciplines. The programme supports the development of sociological thinking, especially as a scientific discipline focused on basic research in the main fields of social sciences as well as applied research. The students must prove their knowledge of present-day theories and methodology and also their ability to contribute independently to scientific debates new knowledge that meets internationally recognised standards. The graduate profile enables scientific careers, careers in applied research, analytical and expert work (in consultancy agencies, market and media research, individual organisations and corporations). Course Structure and Study Requirements: J#04521
Research Design is a professional platform where students discuss their dissertation projects and parts of their doctoral dissertations. Students must also enrol in the courses that are compulsory for the first-year (or second-year) students in the doctoral programme of study (these courses are usually organised in the summer semester). Students must enrol in and complete these courses during the first and second year of the programme. The compulsory courses are JSDS10 Research Design (WS), JSDS11 Academic Writing in Sociology (SS), JSDS03 New Methods in Social Research, and JSDS04 Sociology as a Contemporary Science. |
